Application - National Toy Retailer needed new, totally enclosed, display cases, which could be configured individually or in continuous rows, to accommodate a new line of hand-held electronic games.

Design Challenge - The case was only 47 inches wide, too small for standard 48� fluorescent lamps. Other major requirements were cool-running, quick installation, and easy maintenance. This retail P.O.P. display lighting system needed to integrate inconspicuously with the case shelving.

Crownlite�s Process - First, we visited two locations of the retailer to better understand the selling environment, and measure general and near surrounding light levels. We then reviewed our customer�s existing drawings to determine the exact space available for the shelving and lighting. We then researched available light sources and found that two 22 � inch �U� type lamps fitted end-to-end would provide the required the light levels and could be configured to fit the case. We designed a sloped shelf to make it easier for children to see the product and to concealed the lighting.

Solution / Results - Using Crownlite�s sheet metal capabilities, we manufactured a 10� x 46� light fixture with two �U� lamps end-to-end, and the sloped shelving with support brackets to produce a complete lighting and shelving solution. We incorporated a plug-in wiring system to eliminate the need for an electrical contactor when cases were installed in continuous rows. This retail P.O.P. display lighting system was installed in over 300 retail locations.
